Meet Dr. Fenia Christodoulidi, Phd

Counselling, Supervision, Training & Research

Welcome to my page! People call me 'Fenia', which is the shortcut of my 'all Greek to you' long name Fevronia Christodoulidi.  I was born and grew up in Athens, Greece and have been living and working in the UK for over 20 years.

You are probably reading this because you are seeking counselling support or your are a practitioner looking for a supervisor or you are a student in counselling/psychotherapy/psychology seeking help with your studies in this field. I am offering a variety of services which you can navigate via this site, drawing from my life journey and professional experience in this field.

I originally trained in humanistic and existential approaches which are very much aligned with my values, as someone who believes in collaborative relationships, respect for individuality and a state of curiosity and humility towards the human condition. I will listen to your story, ask suitable questions, explore with you the meanings you attach to your life, your aspirations and goals and identify together ways towards expressing your potential.

As an Integrative Practitioner and someone who later on engaged in research, I have come to realise the importance of adopting critical thinking and a 'synthesis' perspective to life. Therefore, I have learnt to bring additional evidence-based approaches in my work, with the intention to empower you to make the changes and achieve the results you wish for (you can find out more about my Qualifications & Training in the About section).

During my professional career as a Therapist and Supervisor, I have practised in the NHS, in a number of student and staff counselling services within colleges and universities and in various mental health charities. As a Senior Lecturer in Counselling & Psychotherapy, I have taught several counselling trainees at all levels, from certificate to doctoral level. I also very much enjoy supervising Prof Doc and PhD students in this field, feeling inspired by the excellent supervision and support i was lucky to receive during my own doctoral years.

In working together, I will endeavour to bring my knowledge and experience, will invite your feedback and preferences and aim towards making myself redundant as I accompany and encourage you on navigating your own unique path. I have a particular interest in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures, having migrated and extensively travelled myself.

Working remotely (online or over the phone) gives us a unique opportunity to connect beyond the restrictions that are bound to geographical location, mobility, health or busy work/family schedules. There is a lot of evidence that this mode of working can be as effective as in-the-room contact. Please read some guidance on online sessions in the FAQ section

Counselling & Psychotherapy

I am offering both short-term and long-term therapy, in English and Greek. My integrative training and experience means that the approach we take is tailored to your specific needs and is regularly adjusted and reviewed in collaboration with you, according to your preferences and what is required in the here-and-now of your life. My style is highly relational and inclusive, i welcome people from all paths of life and different cultures, bringing my own insights as a migrant and global nomad.

I currently do not have space for new clients for this service. Please enquire about all other services on offer.

04

Mentoring for Students

Are you contemplating on undertaking studies in the filed of therapy/psychology but feel confused about which path to take? I can explain and help you decide upon the different routes available (mainly in the UK).

Are you already a PG student (on a Master's or Prof Doc or PhD programme in Counselling, Psychotherapy or Counselling Psychology) and struggle with the research process or writing up your research? I can provide you with research supervision towards completing your thesis.

I am particularly knowledgeable on highly reflexive qualitative methodologies (e.g. Heuristic Research, Auto-ethnography and IPA) and i have a keen interest/experience in supporting research students who have chosen a topic on a phenomenon they have directly experienced themselves.
