About Me
I completed my core training in the field of Counselling & Psychotherapy and started seeing my first clients in 2002. Originally from Athens, Greece, I moved to the UK, to pursue my post-graduate studies, and have been working in different settings as a psychotherapist, supervisor, trainer, and researcher ever since. Similar to how I was fortunate to embark on a journey of self-discovery and be supported on the way, my aim is to connect with you at a human level and assist you towards achieving your goals or finding meaning, purpose and self-expression in what you do and who you are or want to be.
I originally trained in humanistic and existential approaches which are very much aligned with my values, as someone who believes in collaborative relationships, respect for individuality and a state of curiosity and humility towards the human condition. I am also interested in embodiment and often will ask questions about how you experience things by tuning in the 'felt sense' which helps us access intuitive material. As an integrative practitioner and someone who later on engaged in research, I have come to realise the importance of adopting a mindful and a 'synthesis' perspective towards life. Therefore, I have learnt to bring additional evidence-based approaches in my work, with the intention to empower you towards making the changes you wish for.
I am committed to anti-oppressive practice, creating a space where all individuals feel seen, heard, and valued. I work through a culturally attuned lens, recognising the diverse experiences that shape each person’s journey. My approach is grounded in cultural humility, ensuring that I remain open to learning and adapting to the unique needs of those I support. Inclusivity is at the heart of my work, fostering an environment of acceptance where healing can take place.
Over the years, I have practised at different settings including the NHS, a number of student and staff counselling services within colleges and universities and in various mental health charities. As a Senior Lecturer in Counselling & Psychotherapy, I have taught several counselling trainees at all levels, from certificate to doctoral level. I also very much enjoy supervising Prof Doc and PhD students in this field, feeling inspired by the excellent supervision I was lucky to receive during my own doctoral years.
Outside work, you will find me travelling, connecting with nature, cooking with and for family & friends, experimenting with something creative or chilling by or inside water which is my soothing place!
